Organizing Your Tunnels

Use Clear Names

❌ Avoid:

database
my-server

Recommended format: [environment]-[service]

Archive Old Tunnels

When you no longer need a tunnel:

When you have lots of tunnels, these strategies help:

Group by Naming

Use prefixes to group related tunnels:

aws-dev-postgres
aws-dev-redis
aws-prod-postgres
aws-prod-redis

Then search aws-dev to see only development AWS tunnels.

Regular Cleanup

Every few months:

  1. Export all tunnels as a backup
  2. Delete unused tunnels
  3. Rename any with unclear names

Quick Access via Menu Bar

For tunnels you use constantly:

  1. Enable Menu Bar in Settings → General
  2. Click the menu bar icon for instant access
  3. Connect/disconnect without opening the main window
